Why are there clocks still made with the “ticking” noise, and not all silent?

Some people find the ticking to be quite satisfying. Either way, one of the components that makes the ticking sound are the gears that have been found in watches and clocks for centuries. These components are often more reliable than a computer chip telling the hands to move, which would probably make less sound.
