That’s your body protecting you from doing something that hurts it, because you already did something that hurts it but you couldn’t tell because of the inebriation. That’s the ELI5.

I’m no expert. But my guess is the combination of factors that affect alcohol absorption like hydration and how recently you’ve eaten. In addition factors like amount of sleep can change the way you feel the effects of alcohol

To elaborate, some others and I agree that on a given day we can take shots like its water, but sometimes you drink half a shot and want to throw up and are unable to take a sip without feeling like you’re drinking something so..bad for you.
