Why aren’t we making new toilets and bathroom stuff coated with that hydrophobic material? Wouldn’t that take a little bit of water from the process?

Porcelain, unless the glaze has been damaged, is already waterproof. adding a hydrophobic material would not improve functionality in any manner and it would only increase the cost.
