Why can children withstand higher body temperatures than adults?

I’m curious why a child can have a fever of 104º F and not need to worry, but an adult with that temperature would need to head to the ER immediately.

Can they withstand higher temperatures or are they just unaware of how dangerous a high temp can be?

OP I reject your premise based on the [world hot sauna championships](https://i.imgur.com/kjekvyZ.jpg).

As for fever, I can imagine adult physiology (thicker skin, hairs on skin, fat) producing lower external temperature than a child would.
