Why can some pain be mitigated through pressure?

For example a sore that stings when touch or pushed but if you press hard enough the pain will go away, logically that’d make it hurt worse, not vice versa

The sensations of touch and pain are handled by different nerve fibers. If you get a lot of signals going through one set, it can inhibit the other set.
