– Why can’t front windshields have the same defrosting method as rear windshields?

The rear windshield defrosters seem so much more effective. Is it just the lines across the drivers field of view that makes it decidedly unsafe?

Also…why isn’t there a “slap” function on windshield wipers? Like when you get a small stick, leaf, or chunk of ice stuck under the wiper, it would be great if you didn’t have to reach outside of the window to lift it up and free the debris. Just pull the lever or something and it makes your wipers slap the windshield while you’re driving.

I had a jag VDP that had heating filaments in the entire windshield, was only Noticeable if you looked real close.

They do. I suspect Ford has the patent as I’ve 2 fords in the last 10 years and they both had it (and they’re great) but other cars didn’t

You can get cars with that on. As far as I’m aware Ford hold the rights to it. The lines are much thinner that on the rear and there are more of them so they don’t affect your field of vision. I loved my car with that on as I’m too small to reach the middle of the car.

It can be, some has…

It is just expensive and any damage, which is more likely in the front, could result in a total replacement, also expensive
