Gel lenses have to continuously be immersed in fluid or they will dry out. Soft plastic lenses will scratch after the first cleaning attempt.
>why can’t glasses be made of the same material as used in contact lenses? They wouldn’t break so easily
This is the first time I hear about lenses breaking *easily*. If they’re thin glass lenses you’d have to work **really** hard to shatter them. Any kind of similar force would easily destroy any other kind of lense as well. Glass is extremely hard.
