Why can’t we, as humans, walk/run on water without the aid of technology?

Surface tension of water only goes so far. It can support something the size and mass of an insect, but that’s about the limit. Anything larger than bugs has to rely on the physics of buoyancy.

Basically it is a weight to surface area problem, the larger the weight the larger the surface area you need to spread it over to walk on water. The Victoria plant spreads itself over a large area – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_(plant) but even with that area a human attempting to walk on a plant will fall into the water and has done so on numerous videos.
