Why can’t we remember anything from when we were born and in our younger years?

I’m probably not the brightest person here, but I think it has to do with the fact that our brain hasn’t fully developed a part called the hippocampus. It’s the part of our brain that kind of deals with memories. The hippocampus doesn’t fully develop till we’re age 7 leaving us in a kind of childhood amnesia. (If I’m wrong please correct me)

I want to say it’s because you don’t understand enough yet so it’s hard to remember things you couldn’t even understand

Infantile amnesia is the psychological term for this, but unfortunately, **we don’t know “why” it happens**. It affects everything before the age of about 2-4, and then quite a good deal of things until about age 10.

I remember a shocking amount of that time. I felt more aware then than I do today. Maybe society just beats it all out of us, if we remember it we feel like crazy people, if we forget it like can just along.
