Why cant you eat as much food when you’re starving hungry compared to when you’re moderate hungry?

Being very very hungry is your body telling you to “eat now”, not to “eat a lot”.

If you eat too much after a long bout of not eating, your blood sugar and insulin both spike really fast, causing headache, nausea, etc. I assume this is the reason why (as others have said) your stomach shrinks a bit.
