its mostly because the shade of green chosen is so hideous that it’s rare that anyone’s gonna be wearing that.

[This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aO3JgPUJ6iQ) by Captain Disillusion explains it pretty well but the TL;DR version is that, because the human eyes are more sensitive to green color, digital cameras are made to capture it at basically double the resolution of the other two color channels. This results in a clearer and sharper image in the green channel that makes it easier to separate stuff apart with.

Two reasons:

1. Green is well contrasted with human skin, which is a reddish color.

2. Digital cameras are most sensitive to green.

You can actually use any solid color. Blue and pink are also used.
