why did Nintendo games jump in price DS to switch?

I remember getting ds games for 29.99 cad, and 3ds games for 39.99/44.99. Why did switch games suddenly cost 79.99 cad, and not say 50-60. Was it just development costs?

Usually when next gen consoles or tech is released. It means that developers have more resources at hand to utilize the hardware more efficiently. But that doesn’t mean that it’s less work. Better looking games requires more work and more developers and designers. More control you have over the hardware more labor intensive it usually gets to fully utilize that.

Handheld console to household console. I understand the Switch is also portable but you know what I mean. Wii-U games were the standard $60. it’s not development cost it’s the platform

The main two reasons are that:

1) The actual cartridges for the switch are more expensive to manufacture than the Blu-Ray discs that Xbox and PlayStation use this is because unlike the other two the switch has to be portable so a big disk is a no-go.

2) Nintendo generally have less DLC and other content than their competitors. You pay more up front but you tend to get the full game instead of 80% of the game.
