Why do bad vibes give you a “gut feeling”?

Why is it that you feel it in your tummy area and not like in your head or something? Is it a particular organ that senses things, or does your core tense up?? So many questions.

Not an expert at all but in the novels Jurassic park and the lost world by Micheal Crichton, he discusses at length how the Raptors are ultra violent because there are no passed down behaviors such as nurturing or nesting but somehow they know how to hunt as a pack with co-ordination. He then raises the question, is there a genetic link that carries over certain behaviors because they are promoting of survival. While there is no proof, again not an expert, I believe that between genetics and our primal instincts, our sub conscious picks up on faint clues that we do not look for and then creates a feeling of danger to make our consciousness pay more attention.

Biologically its because our prehistoric ancestors relied on gut intuition to sense danger when hunting or when needing to fight. The theory being that you should shit before any conflict to make your body lighter and easier to move in combat or to run away. Intuition works with every organ though. There’s a whole subreddit on psychics and psychic intuition.

The fight or flight response diverts blood from the gastrointestinal system because it wants to feed blood to your muscles. This is because when you are fighting for your life, it would be a waste of energy to also be churning your morning toast around.

Consequently you get an uncomfortable feeling in your gut because it is being fed less blood.
