Predators often have vertical pupils, while herbivorous creatures often have horizontal pupils. I’m pulling this out of the dark recesses of my brain, but I remember reading that predators focus on a single prey animal at a time, while prey spends its time scanning from left to right to determine potential threats coming from any possible direction.
