Why do cold fluids hurt a sore throat?

So, when I get a sore throat, even water at room temperature hurts me when drinking it, but warm fluids like tea or just warm water bring relief and let me swallow without pain – why is that so? Is it something similar to how a sunburn makes certain water temperatures on the skin hurtful?

Cold liquids can bug your throat because they tighten blood vessels, increasing muscle tension. In contrast, warm liquids relax throat muscles, reduce tension, and boost blood flow, acting as a soothing effect for an inflamed throat.
