Why do humans dance? Is it replicated in other species of animals?

First – yes, many animals dance, or at least move in rhythm to music. Too many to list, in fact.
As far as why, there are a few theories.
The best one I’ve heard is that being able to perform to a fixed rhythm, like music, is a good general indicator for both physical prowess and partner compatibility.
If you can move your body in a powerful, controlled way, in tune with rhythmic music, then you’re probably in tolerable physical shape and have decent coordination. You also likely don’t have any major developmental or physical abnormalities or disabilities, nor are you deaf.
If you can do all of that, while *also* being cognizant of how another person is moving near you, and coordinate your movements with them, that’s even better.
