Why Do Humans Experience “Cute Aggression?”

Like, that feeling where you see something super cute and you grit your teeth/clench your fists/want to squeeze it really hard. I have this feeling with extreme frequency, and I can’t find any good articles that explain why it actually happens in simple terms.

i know the answer! 🙂 it’s kinda weird tho so

think of it like this:

when you’re hungry: you eat,
when you’re tired: you sleep,
when you’re itchy: you scratch

those are all ways that you satisfy what you’re feeling, but if you find something cute, there’s no way to satisfy that feeling. because after you eat you’re not hungry, after you sleep you’re not tired, and after you scratch you’re not itchy. but imagine that you see a cute puppy and get “cute aggression.” you can pet the puppy, hold the puppy, and play with the puppy, but you’ll still find it super adorable.

so basically, the reason you want to squeeze the puppy is so that you kill it and it stops being cute since your body can’t figure out a way to satisfy the feeling of cuteness. i know it’s odd!!

hope that helps 🙂
