Why do humans have ulcers in the mouth?

The alternative is a scab which works by healing and then falling off, probably not something you really want flaking off onto the inside of your mouth.
I don’t know how ulcers work but I had my fair share when I had braces for 4 years and they heal way faster than normal wounds so maybe that has something to do with it. Also probably something to do with the fact your mouth has lots of bacteria and is constantly moist.
