Why do humans yawn

to draw more air into the lungs. especially when we’re tired we need more oxygen to keep us alert and functioning. we sneeze to get rid of old air in our lungs and foreign particles in our airway. so the two serve opposite functions. we also yawn in response to other humans sometimes, but that’s more of an empathetic response
