Why do insects and reptiles use flash and vibrant colors if most animals don’t see color that well?

I thought primates are the only animals that see colors as vibrant so why is this defense mechanism for so many animals?

Actually many animals, especially birds, have much better eyesight than humans and can actually see more of the electromagnetic spectrum than humans. This means that they can literally see more colours than we can. In order for us to see them we need special ultra violet or infra red cameras to pick it up and then display it on screen in a colour we can see.

Also even animals that can’t see colour can still see shades so it is still better to camouflage yourself when hiding since the shades will match.
