Why do job applications in the U.S. always separate “Hispanic or Latino” from everyone else in the ethnic background section?

Because for some race bater made a stink about it and said they were offended and discriminated against because it wasn’t stated according to their liking.
We’d be better off hiring based on skill or experience or knowledge but race bating is a national sport. We have a culture that needs to make everything about race.
