why do most teenagers or middle schoolers go through one of those “awkward” phases? What is it about the age and physiological place they’re in?

It’s about the age where you stop being a child and start being an adult. The thing is you’ve spent your whole life up to that point being a kid so you’re pretty good at it, but you’ve never been an adult before so it takes a long time to figure out how the hell that works.
