Why do our necks have so much oil/sweat/ dead skin build up?

This may just be me, but when I was in the shower I was scratching my neck and found a bunch of what I can only assume to be oil/sweat under my fingernails. However, this doesn’t happen on other parts of skin. I was able to get like 15 batches of it before my neck was too raw to scratch any more (Yes, I was my neck every day). Could it be that our necks have thin skin or just that they produce a lot of oil?

I think it’s a natural place to build up oil and sweat, especially if you have longer hair. Since it’s concave/has extra creases for mobility, is in a very protected part of your body, and isn’t easily viewed (unless you look in a mirror at an odd angle), it makes sense that stuff would collect there since it can’t naturally slough off and you aren’t as easily reminded to clean it. Same thing for behind your ears!
