Why do people eat snails but not slugs?

As far as I’m aware people don’t eat slugs, but snails are widely eaten. What’s the difference? They both look the same basically but I’ve never heard of slugs being eaten, at least in the same way snails are ate

An easy answer is slugs aren’t just shell-less snails. They are different creatures that have a different (worse) taste and texture
