Why do people eat snails but not slugs?

As far as I’m aware people don’t eat slugs, but snails are widely eaten. What’s the difference? They both look the same basically but I’ve never heard of slugs being eaten, at least in the same way snails are ate

We can eat snails because they’re farmed and carefully prepared to be safe. Slugs, on the other hand, are wild and can carry harmful parasites, making them unsafe to eat.
