Why do people experience ringing in their ears after shock, such as being injured?

Is this a real physiological response, or is it something exaggerated/pumped by popular media? If it is true, what are the underlying mechanisms that cause this?

Tinnitus or the ringing in the ears doesn’t have a single root cause instead it can be a blockage, damage to the ear drum, otosclerosis or damage to the stereocilla. To avoid tinnitus be careful of what you put into your ears and avoid loud sounds. https://youtu.be/TjX2SIqhCRs

If the event that caused the injury was extremely loud, then your ears will ring afterwards. That one should be obvious.

Less obvious: If the event slammed your head or shook it violently, that could also make your ears ring. The bones in your ears are the tiniest bones in your body, and you’re wired to perceive any vibration in those little bones as noise. So when you get hit hard, your ears are experiencing a trauma similar to the trauma they experience from an extremely loud noise. And just like with the loud noise, in the immediate period after the injury, when your ears are recovering, you’ll experience that recovery as a ringing noise.
