I’m not sure about others, but I’ve started taking hydrolysed collagen (marine collagen) because I’m old and post-menopausal and I have osteoarthritis in my hands and feet. After menopause, we don’t produce collagen anymore. Collagen is required to support connective tissue and keeps it supple. It’s also required for cell development in skin (epidermis, dermis, and epithelial cells). While collagen depletion isn’t the reason for my arthritis, it helps reduce pain in my hands and feet, and I find that the flexibility in my toes and feet generally is better, so I’m less likely to topple over, and I’m more mobile, limiting the effects of a sedentary lifestyle. How’s that?
