Why do people use alcohol or drugs to cope from a scienfitic/psychological stance?

It’s a rush of dopamine. Because you receive that rush of happy chemical, you start to subconsciously view the action/item use as a reward, a very effective one.
When abused, this can quickly lead into an addiction loop unless recognized and treated.
