Compared to land predators, it seems like a big difference. You don’t see smaller animals just nonchalantly browsing right next to a pack of lions or hyenas. But in nature documentaries, you commonly see all kinds of random fish of all sizes swimming right by sharks, and they’re just completely ignored, why?
(Not talking about the specialized cleaning fish, those are obvious why they’re tolerated)
I’ve also seen the explanations for sharks in aquariums, that they’re fed so regularly and that’s why they don’t care. Which doesn’t quite sound right either, I mean you never see them put random animals in the lion exhibit because they’re so well fed.
