Why do sloths move so slowly?

Like, I from what I know, little animals like ants or other insects are quicker than us and have a different perception of space/time, but what about sloths?

There is a wide variety of strategies for survival. Being too fast to catch is popular, but going fast takes a lot of energy. Sloths use the strategy of needing very little energy but being hard to find and get to. Needing little energy and living in trees works for sloths, so there are still sloths. Other animals use this strategy, like koalas, but sloths are the champs of the league.

They eat leaves which have very little energy, so they digest them for a long time and have a very slow metabolism (they only poop about once a week!) They only have a tiny bit of energy, so they move slowly and deliberately. If they use too much energy they can starve to death!
