Why do slugs always come on to concrete paths when it rains?

Some paths I’m dodging them every few steps! But when it doesn’t rain, I don’t see any.

Slugs and worms live underground in little tunnels. When it rains the tunnels flood.

They don’t want to drown so they crawl to a solid place to sit until it is dry enough to crawl back down.
