Why do some mirrors make you look different than others?

There are many possible reasons. First is what u/haplo0 mentioned, if the mirror isn’t perfectly flat then it will give a different reflection.

There are also issues of what the mirror is made of, or if it is covered in glass or some other material.

Fun fact: aluminum is actually green. We often can’t see it because all we notice is what is reflected, but if you use two mirrors to make an infinite-tunnel you can see the image turn green far into the tunnel.

Other reflective surfaces might give different hues.

Because the surface of the mirror isn’t flat. For example, if you look at your reflection in a drinking glass, you will see a distorted reflection. Same for funhouse mirrors.
