: why do some of us fear closets?

For me exactly, it’s a fear I had since I was a kid for no reason, I’m aware there’s nothing in there, yet I feel terrified at the idea of sleeping with the closet door opened at all

Natural selection. on the surface of our planet most life mainly use light and vision as our main senses. This also means that the only predictors that lived on were predictors that can use the lack of light to exploit our inability to see in the dark. The animals who didn’t naturally have this instinct to be eerie of predictors in places we cant see didn’t make it. Better safe than sorry.
