Why do some plugs spark when you plug them in?

They all do, you just don’t always see it.

edit: I am not qualified to answer this question, and my knowledge is marginal at best. With that said, a spark is generally not something to worry about. Plugs in the United States are designed with the terminals far more exposed than in other places, and the spark will be more visible.

Most electronic devices have capacitors, which are devices that store energy and are used as filters. When you plug a circuit, sometimes the capacitor is discharged and the grid voltage is at its peak. When this occurs, the capacitor current is only limited by the circuit parasitic elements, which causes the current to be very large and causes this spark.

This is very common and probably doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with the circuit.
