why do some TV shows have shaky camera shots and what’s the reason behind them?

For example, I’m watching season 1 of The Americans and there’s a lot of it in the dialogue between two of the main characters. I also remember seeing it a lot on Law & Order episodes.

[Wiki](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaky_camera) says that it’s used to give film an improvised, news reporter type, or documentary feel.

I can’t think of an example off the top of my head, but I’ve also seen it used in some first person point of view shots especially when the director wants to emphasize the character is dizzy, afraid, or otherwise feeling “out of it”.
