Why do tears burn in the eyes when they start coming?

When tears start coming and raise in my eyes, my eyes burn in the first seconds.
Is it just because they are salty?

I’m a grown ass man, and this is the first time I’ve heard tears make eyes burn. God knows I cried my soul out when my grandma died but never felt a burn? I’m gonna google this. Whatever made you cry, OP, I hope you’re feeling better.

It usually happens when your face is oily. The tears somehow, mixes with the oil around your eyes and make them burn.

From Google/urbanoptique.ca,

>Several factors, including environmental irritants, sweat, dry eyes, blepharitis, and allergies, can cause the burning sensation from your tears.

Edit: to put in my own words, there can different reasons why your eyes might burn or sting when you cry, a lot of them having to do with external circumstances, and sometimes it can be because of hormones, as I also learned while looking for an answer.

This obviously doesn’t go into depth, but it could be a jumping off point!

I have recently developed several good allergies.
For a few of them, one of the symptoms is that my tears burn my eyes. If I eat something I shouldn’t, then for the next day any time my eyes water the years burn.

You may want to see an allergist or talk to your doctor. I’ve been in an allergy elimination diet and discovered reasons for skin pain, mouth pain, and muscle aches.

I saw a recent one on here where someone always thought honey was spicy until they found out they just had an allergy.

Because come is salty and when they come on your face it gets in your eyes so its a natural response to have tears in this situation.
