Why do we get angry when we’re hungry?

Wouldn’t being angry worsen our ability to work as a team with other humans and thus also worsen our chances of getting food?

Being angry keeps us focused on a task, to the point where we can ignore distractions, exhaustion and pain. This is very helpful in acquiring food, since trying to recuperate would fail if we didn’t have food and we’d eventually just shut down.

Ik that when you have a full stomach, you feel tired and more relaxed because your brain is using most its energy to digest your food, so maybe there’s then not enough energy for anger

When we haven’t eaten for a while, our brain starts to run low on glucose. This can make our brain feel stressed and irritable, much like how a car might start sputtering if it’s running out of gas. Back in ancient times, this anger and irritability may have helped our ancestors become more focused and motivated to find food. Feeling hangry (hungry and angry) could have made them go “f**k this, ill do it myself” in terms of hunting or gathering food, increasing their chances of survival.
