Heat won’t kill all bacteria, it won’t denature all toxins, and it won’t magically make dirt disappear.

Many produce items from the grocery store come with dirt, bugs, fertilizer, and every once in a while human feces.

Next time you’re at the grocery store check out the mushrooms. You’ll be able to see dirt right in the package.

We wash to remove the pesticides/germicides/fertilizer than only bacteria. Those include harmful chemicals which do not dissipate with cooking.
