Why do we like some certain pains?

When we peel the skin off of our lips, we feel pain, yet we continue to peel it. Or pressing a wound and liking to press it even it causes pain.

The only pain I like is extremely spicy food, but I think it’s the conscious mind overriding the subconscious to let it know I’m not actually in danger
