Why do we sometimes get multiple captchas (sometimes even “infinite” to the point where you simply quit) and other times only one?

If the website has extra spam protection system that consults the spam database and the IP of your pc is listed in those databases it ll keep on showing you the captcha even if you solve it correctly. this happens alot with dynamic ips as they are usually being used by more than one person and chances of someone spamming are higher.
If the website uses just uses recaptcha without any extra spam protection measures. , it ll let you pass on you solving the captcha.
