Why do we still get excited about the outcome of a movie even though we watched it before

Because you’re absorbed into the story. Same with books and video games. You won’t get that edge-of-your-seat feeling like the first time, but you’re still invested im the story. That’s wha makes it enjoyable in the first place.
It feels so good to be right. When things happen the way you remember/want them to/ like, the good feeling makes you happy. Even if the movie is horrific or distasteful, being right makes it worth watching.
