Why do we use 365 days as a marker between the first day of a final menstruation and the start of the post-menopause?

Is a year used as a convenient marker for us, or does it map onto the processes involved?

We use 365 days to say someone is in menopause because it helps us know when they haven’t had their period for a whole year. This is just an easy way to understand it! Everyone’s body is different, and it doesn’t mean exactly one year is special, but saying “one year” helps doctors and people keep track of changes when a person stops having their period.
