Why do your food tastes change as you get older?

As an example (because this just happened a minute ago), I’ve never been a huge fan of Oreos, but I just ate one and it was amazing. And vice versa…things I used to like don’t taste as good.

Your taste buds may become desensitized as you get older, who knows, but you also become more aware of how a particular food affects your body. For example, eat salty food and your ears may ring, so you avoid that. You also become aware of people that indulged one thing or another and are now dead. For example, indulge deep fat fried food and have a heart attack. Indulge wine and die from liver failure. These things loom bigger when it’s a family member or a friend that you’ve known for years, so you moderate what they indulged.
