Example: 2 – (-3) = 5
I learned HOW to solve this type of equation in school…but not the WHY.

Think of it with money. You have 2 dollars and you get rid of 3 dollars you don’t have. Now you have 5 dollars.
Its just a different perspective of adding 3 dollars. By working and getting a paycheck you are taking away the absence of money.
