What type of bread are you eating? Are you eating it with anything else?

Your mouth is an important part of your digestive system. Chewing and saliva start breaking down food before it is swallowed, and it turns out bread has a lot of easily broken down carbohydrates (sugars).

It’s hard to stick to your tongue, which is moving while eating, but this sticky “pre-digested” bread can easily find a home on the roof of your mouth (or your teeth, remember to brush!)
