Theatrics

Some fighters are really good at looking menacing, some not so much. I remember before they Mayweather-Pacquiao fight ol’ endlessly cheery Manny couldn’t even keep a straight face trying to stare down Floyd, who then himself could only muster “disinterested face”

It is just spectacle and hype. It makes for a better story if we think the fighters hate each other, that’s just an opportunity to let that sort of thing come out in public.

To drum up the fake drama so that the audience buys in to how much these two combatants “hate” each other.

Fake drama is great for selling ppv, As demonstrated by Dana White, Don King and their ilk.

PT Barnum had nothing on the fake drama these clowns sell the public.

Source: I was an Olympic trials boxing contender. Our weigh ins never featured a stare down for the cameras. We went out and boxed for sport not PPV buys

*edit too many punches to the head so spelling…

intimidation, for the show, looks cool. might be because its the first time they see each other at all. whatever.

it’s really not that important.

It feeds the thirst for violence to portray them as two people who want to hurt each other.
