Whenever I leave home it feels like time is normal but coming back (drive, plane, bike anything) my concept of time feels a lot shorter.
Why is this?

In addition to what the other posters said, especially when driving, familiarity plays a part as well. The first time you drove somewhere, everything you saw was all new. On your drive home, it’s no longer, you’re seeing it again. Your memory doesn’t need to “save” it so it seems shorter.
