There’s 2 types of diabetes: type 1 is where your body is incapable of producing enough insulin because of an autoimmune disorder, where your own body attacks its pancreas, possibly due to genetic problems, but can be caused by virus or other illness.

Type 2 diabetes is ultimately caused by insulin resistance. In this case, you have over taxed your pancreas to either not be able to produce enough insulin any more, or your body doesn’t react to it the same way, basically building a tolerance to it.

Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas to facilitate the movement of blood sugar out of, or into, the bloodstream.
