why does fast charging in mobile phones charge the phone to a certain % very quickly and then significantly slows down?

Think of it as blowing up a balloon. At the early stages, you can inflate it pretty fast because there is not as much pressure. As the balloon expands and the pressure inside gets higher, it gets harder and harder to blow into it.

* When you are charing a battery, you are basically moving electrons to one side and spots for electrons to go, on the other side.
* When the battery is almost dead, there is plenty of room for these electrons and so the flow easily which means they flow quickly.
* As the battery gets full, there is less and less room for new electrons so the process slows down.
