why does grass thrive even after being trampled on, but other plants wouldn’t survive?

grasses can continuously grow leaves and roots from the middle part (the crown). Even even if they’re damaged both on the top (leaves mowed, grazed by animals) and the bottom (roots eaten or dug through by animals), both sides of grass keep growing.

Other plants can’t do this. A leaf/root that’s damaged stays that way while maybe a new one forms to replace it.

This superpower made grasses an insanely successful kind of plants. our grain crops (wheat, barley, oats etc) are grasses.
